Internet gaming addiction can include all types of on-line gaming and off-line gaming such as video and computer games. Teenagers are attracted to the graphics, dynamics of the characters, and the strategic content of the games. Studies (Gentile, 2009) revealed that more than 8 percent of gamers between the ages of 8 and 18 exhibit symptoms of video game addiction.
People of all ages can exhibit problems with internet gaming. Sometimes they can be labeled as hidden youth. The underlying factors of addiction are complicated that often involve relationship, family, emotional and school problems. Internet gaming may be used for escape and release of pressure. As a result, the gaming habit may become vicious cycle and cause further deterioration in aspects of real life difficulties.
