People may spend large amount of time to search and collect a wealth of information from the internet and get out of control from browsing through websites. When someone is addicted, he/she may withdraw from the physical world and relationship, and may affect concentration and work productivity.

Online shopping addiction refers to the excessive amounts of time and money spent on online shopping, often buying things that are not wanted or used. Moreover online purchases usually paid by credit card that could cause less attention to the amount of spending and result in overspending. When the person attempts to reduce the amount of time browsing and money spent on shopping, they may feel irritable and anxious. The preoccupation can cause problems with finances, relationships and even with work performance.
